Oil Traps

“Oil Interceptors” or “Oil Traps,” also known as grease traps, are devices used to separate oils, greases, and other fatty substances from water or other liquids. They are widely used in wastewater treatment plants and industries such as food, oil and gas, and chemical industries.

Objectives of Oil Interceptors:

Oil interceptors aim to separate oils, greases, and fatty substances from water or other liquids.

They work to purify water from oily impurities and fine particles, helping to improve water quality.

They reduce pollution resulting from the leakage of oils and fatty substances into natural waters, thus preserving the environment and marine life.

How Oil Interceptors Work:

– The design of oil interceptors features openings that allow water contaminated with oils to enter the unit.
– As water enters the unit, its speed slows down, allowing floating oils and greases to separate and accumulate on the water’s surface due to gravity.
– Oils and greases are collected in a designated area inside the oil interceptor.
– Clean water is drained after oil separation, as it is heavier and located at the bottom.
